Op Sindoor not over yet, fight against terror will continue: Modi

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

Kanpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the fight against militancy will continue until the threat is fully neutralised. He asserted that Operation Sindoor, aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure, is far from over.

Addressing a gathering after launching projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore, Modi said Indian Armed Forces have sent a strong message by taking decisive action against militants in Pakistan. “Pakistan’s tactic of using state and non-state actors will no longer work. Our forces gave a befitting reply that forced Pakistan to plead for a ceasefire,” he said.

He warned that more action could follow if needed. “The enemy has seen the power of Operation Sindoor—this is just one arrow in our quiver,” the PM said.

Modi likened militancy to a serpent that must be eliminated before it strikes again. “If it raises its hood, it will be dragged out and crushed,” he said, stressing that the threat will be dealt with firmly wherever it emerges from.

He confirmed that Indian forces crossed the border and destroyed militant camps in Pakistan. “We entered their camps and destroyed the sites. Pakistan begged us to stop,” he said.

Modi made it clear that the operation is ongoing. “Don’t be mistaken—Operation Sindoor is not over yet,” he said.

He said India’s response to any militant attack will be determined by the Armed Forces—on their own terms and timing. “Every attack will be met with a calculated and strong reply,” he added.

Earlier in the day, the PM met the family of Shubham Dwivedi, a 31-year-old businessman from Kanpur who was among the 26 civilians killed in the April 22 Pahalgam militant attack. The meeting took place at Chakeri Airport in Kanpur. Dwivedi had recently married and was travelling with his family when he was shot dead.
