Four booked for reckless driving on Mughal Road, vehicle seized

Shopian: Police have registered a case against four persons for reckless driving on the Mughal Road, a vital high-altitude route in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official told GNS that Police Station Heerpora has registered FIR 24/2025 under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after a private vehicle (JK22B-9503) was found to be driven in a manner that posed a threat to public safety.

The car owner along with three co-passengers has been booked in the case, and the vehicle has been seized.

Police have launched an investigation, and further legal action is underway, the official added.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian reiterated that J&K Police remains committed to road safety, especially on sensitive stretches like Mughal Road, and urged motorists to drive responsibly and follow traffic regulations.
