Goods train derails in Kathua after flash flood damages track

Kathua: A goods train heading from Jammu to Punjab derailed near Lakhanpur in Kathua district following heavy rainfall that triggered a flash flood, officials said on Thursday.

“A goods train derailed in the Lakhanpur area after a flash flood caused damage to the railway line,” an official said.

The train was on its way to Punjab when the incident occurred. Railway teams quickly reached the site, and restoration work is currently underway to resume rail traffic on the affected section.
