Srinagar: Widespread monsoon activity is expected across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with weather officials forecasting showers in both plains and higher reaches, according to Kashmir Weather.
The intensity of rainfall may vary, with some areas likely to witness heavy downpours that could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially along the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
On July 21, Jammu is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly in the early morning hours. In Kashmir, scattered showers are expected later in the afternoon and evening, possibly continuing into the night.
The monsoon pattern will intensify on July 22, bringing rain to most parts of the region. The Jammu plains are expected to witness showers during the first half of the day, while Kashmir and surrounding hill areas may experience rainfall later in the day.
Rainfall is expected to continue on July 23 in several areas of the Union Territory. However, by July 24, conditions may begin to improve, with showers confined to only a few places and no significant weather activity predicted.
From July 25 onwards, the weather is expected to turn generally dry. While isolated areas may still receive light showers, no major rainfall activity is anticipated during this period.
Officials have cautioned that isolated heavy showers could lead to flash flooding and disruption along hilly routes. The risk of landslides and shooting stones remains high along the Srinagar-Jammu highway, and commuters are advised to stay alert and follow updates from the authorities.
