Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India on Monday carried out searches at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with its ongoing probe into a terror conspiracy case, officials said.
According to officials, the searches were conducted at eight locations in Bihar; one each in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu; two in Uttar Pradesh; and nine in Jammu and Kashmir. In JK, the raids took place in Baramulla, Kulgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama districts, officials told PTI.
Meanwhile, a military operation against militants is underway in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam district. One militant was killed, and a junior commissioned officer of the army sustained injuries during the operation.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said the operation was still underway. Armed forces had launched the search following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The search turned into operation after militants opened fire on the forces, officials said.
