KCCI election concludes: Javid Tenga, Ashaq Shangloo’s Hope21 wins

Srinagar: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday concluded executive committee elections with Javid Tenga, Ashaq Shanloo group winning a second time.

A total of 559 votes were polled in the elections for the Executive Committee of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for the 2025–27 term.

Out of these Javid Tenga was favoured by 464 members who voted, and Ashaq Hussain Shangloo was favoured by 452 members.

Other notable members who garnered huge votes were Umer Nazir Tibetbaqal, Faiz Bakshi, Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi, and Altaf Ahmad Tramboo.

Voting, held at the Kashmir Government Arts Emporium near the GPO, concluded at 5 pm.

The newly elected Executive Committee is set to formally choose its office bearers, including the President and Secretary General, during the 91st adjourned Annual General Meeting, scheduled to be held on October 7 at Hotel Radisson in Srinagar.

The polling, which began at 10 am, was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar and the KCCI Election Commission. The election saw an impressive voter turnout of 81.86%, with 570 out of 695 eligible members casting their votes.

Observers from various government departments and banks monitored the process to ensure transparency and fairness.

The elections were earlier scheduled for September 22 but were postponed following a directive from the district administration.
