Pakistan’s military announced on Friday that security forces had killed 30 militants responsible for the October 7 ambush on a military convoy near the Afghan border, which claimed the lives of nine soldiers and two officers.

The ambush, carried out in Orakzai district, prompted a rapid military response in one of Pakistan’s most volatile border regions.

In an official statement quoted in AP report, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, “During the conduct of operation, based on credible intelligence, and after intense fire exchanges, all thirty Indian-sponsored Khwarij involved in the terrorist incident have been neutralised.”

The military’s statement accused India of backing militants operating in Pakistan, a claim India rejects as baseless.

Relations between Islamabad and Kabul have remained strained since the Taliban assumed control in 2021 following NATO’s withdrawal.
