45 Gaza flotilla activists released from Israeli custody reach Jordan

The Global Sumud Flotilla

Forty-five activists who were detained by Israeli forces while aboard a Gaza-bound flotilla have reached Jordan after spending several days in Israeli custody, the country’s Foreign Ministry said.

The group entered Jordan on Sunday through the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge, following coordination between Jordanian authorities and several foreign embassies to facilitate their safe return to their respective countries, Al Jazeera reported.

According to the ministry’s statement on X, the activists include nationals from Tunisia, Spain, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Finland, the United States, and Canada.

The group was part of a nine-boat convoy organised by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition that set sail last week in an attempt to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza.

Israeli naval forces intercepted the flotilla in international waters and detained dozens of participants, who were later transferred to Israeli custody.

Jordanian officials said coordination is ongoing to ensure the activists’ safe return home following their release.
