Srinagar: Senior journalist and J&K Bureau Head of The Week, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning at his home in Srinagar.
Bhat complained of chest pain today morning and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
He said that the funeral prayer of Bhat was held at 11:30am in the Chota Bazar locality of Kani Kadal.
The news of his sudden demise has left colleagues and friends across the region in shock. Journalists, editors, and media organisations described his passing as an irreparable loss to Kashmir’s journalistic community.
Bhat’s career spanned several decades, during which he mentored many young journalists and covered some of the most defining events in Jammu and Kashmir’s recent history.
