Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled a transnational militancy module linked to proscribed outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). The operation, spanning multiple states, led to the arrest of seven key operatives and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives, the police said in a statement on Monday.

The case was registered after multiple JeM posters threatening the armed forces were found pasted at Bunpora, Nowgam, on October 19. Following the recovery, FIR No. 162/2025 was registered under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act at Police Station Nowgam.

The investigation revealed a “white-collar terror ecosystem” involving radicalised professionals and students in contact with handlers based in Pakistan and other countries. Police said the network used encrypted communication channels for indoctrination, coordination, fund movement and logistics. Funds were allegedly raised through professional and academic networks under the guise of social and charitable causes. The accused were found involved in identifying and radicalising individuals, recruiting them into terror ranks, raising funds, and procuring arms and IED materials.

Those arrested have been identified as Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf and Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, all residents of Nowgam in Srinagar; Molvi Irfan Ahmad, an Imam from Shopian; Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha from Wakura in Ganderbal; Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib from Koil in Pulwama; and Dr Adeel from Wanpora in Kulgam. Police said more persons connected to the network have been identified and will be apprehended soon.

During the ongoing investigation, coordinated searches were carried out in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian, as well as in Faridabad in coordination with Haryana Police and in Saharanpur with UP Police.

The searches led to the recovery of incriminating documents, electronic devices, arms, ammunition and IED-making materials. The recovered items include one Chinese Star pistol, one Beretta pistol, one AK-56 rifle, one AK Krinkov rifle, and a massive quantity of IED-making material weighing 2,900 kilograms, comprising explosives, chemicals, reagents, electronic circuits, batteries, wires, remote controls, timers and metal sheets.
