Nanded: A 21-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Nanded district has made a startling claim after “marrying” the body of her murdered boyfriend. Aanchal Mamidwar has accused two police personnel of provoking her brother to kill 20-year-old Saksham Tate, with whom she had been in a relationship for three years, Times of India reported.

Aanchal told reporters that on the day Saksham was killed, her brother Himesh took her to the Itwara police station to lodge a complaint against him. She said she refused, but alleged that the officers on duty backed her brother’s anger and even encouraged him to take violent action against Saksham. “I want my father and brothers to be punished the same way Saksham was killed. I have now married him and will live with his family,” she said.

Saksham was shot and assaulted with a tile on November 28, reportedly due to caste-related tensions. Police have arrested Aanchal’s father, Gajanan Mamidwar, along with her brothers Sahil and Himesh, in connection with the killing.

Nanded Superintendent of Police Abinash Kumar said an Additional SP-level officer will look into her allegations against the police. “She had not mentioned this earlier, but we have now recorded her statement,” he said.

Aanchal has demanded the death penalty for those involved. Police said both Saksham and Himesh had prior cases against them. Six people have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Arms Act, and the arrested accused have been remanded to police custody for three days.
