Man arrested for spraying chemical substance on minor girls in Chadoora

Police say the accused used snow spray to harass the victims; FIR registered under BNS provisions

Chadoora: The Budgam Police have arrested a man for allegedly harassing two minor girls by spraying a chemical substance into their eyes in Chadoora.

Police said a complaint was received at Chadoora police station from the parents of the victims, who alleged that an unknown man attacked their daughters while they were returning from tuition classes. Following the complaint, FIR No. 209/2025 was registered under Sections 62 and 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, CCTV footage and other technical evidence were analysed, leading police to identify the suspect as Raja Furqan, son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan, a resident of Gowherpora, Chadoora. Police said the accused used snow spray, which he allegedly sprayed into the eyes of the girls.

The clothes and shoes worn by the accused at the time of the incident were recovered from his possession. Police said the victims have identified the accused, following which he was arrested.

The police also found that the accused had allegedly attempted similar acts in the past but was let off by locals after being admonished, without any formal complaint being lodged.

Budgam Police reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women and urged the public to report incidents of harassment or related offences to the nearest police station without delay.
