New Delhi: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Monday (January 5) wished West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on her birthday, and prayed for her good health and long life.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Birthday wishes to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Didi. I pray for her good health and long life.”

Mamata Banerjee, a three-time chief minister of West Bengal, said the state’s political atmosphere is heating up ahead of the assembly elections, with the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls emerging as a key flashpoint between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP.

Banerjee accused the authorities of attempting to remove genuine voters from the rolls, while the BJP alleged that infiltrators had been included. She also linked the Special Intensive Revision to the National Register of Citizens, describing it as a “backdoor entry” and cautioning that it could lead to detention camps.
