AIMIM rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Police have booked around 60 people on charges of rioting and unlawful assembly after members of an AIMIM rally were allegedly attacked and eggs were thrown at police personnel, officials said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Jinsi area when two groups, one affiliated with the AIMIM and the other supporting a rival candidate, clashed during a foot march led by former MP Imtiaz Jaleel ahead of the upcoming civic elections, Siasat reported.

Some members of the rival group attempted to attack the vehicle of the AIMIM leader, prompting police intervention. While officers used force to disperse the crowd and urged people to leave the area, some individuals allegedly pelted eggs at police personnel. A video showing an attack on a car has gone viral on social media.

A case has been registered at Jinsi police station against 13 identified and 40 to 50 unidentified persons under charges of rioting, unlawful assembly and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act, police said.
