Budgam: The internal link roads of Paris Abadpora in Budgam district remain uncleared days after the area received around 1.7 feet of snowfall, leaving several families cut off and raising concerns over access to medical care, particularly for pregnant women.

Residents said that while the main road has been cleared, the internal link roads are still blocked, confining families to their homes and restricting movement. Locals have appealed to the departments concerned and Budgam MLA Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi to ensure immediate clearance of the link roads.

“There are several pregnant women in this area. In case of an emergency, there is no way to reach a hospital due to blocked link roads,” said Ghulam Mohammad Khan, a resident.

Another local resident, Sabhat, said the delay in snow clearance has severely affected access to essential services. “The main road is open, but the link roads remain blocked, leaving people stranded inside their homes,” she said.

Residents warned that any further delay could have serious consequences for expectant mothers and other vulnerable individuals, and urged authorities to intervene on a priority basis.

The situation comes amid widespread snowfall across Kashmir, where the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army have been carrying out extensive rescue and relief operations in snowbound areas.

In districts such as Ganderbal and Kupwara, police and Army teams evacuated stranded residents, including patients requiring urgent medical attention, often trekking through deep snow to reach remote villages.

Police have also activated 24×7 emergency helplines in several districts, including Budgam, to respond to distress calls and assist people affected by the adverse weather.

While authorities have intensified rescue efforts in multiple snow-hit areas, residents of Paris Abadpora said immediate attention is needed to clear internal link roads to prevent emergencies, especially for pregnant women and those requiring medical care.
