BCCI hails J&K’s historic Ranji Trophy triumph, calls it proud milestone

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday lauded the Jammu & Kashmir team and the wider cricket fraternity for creating history by winning the Ranji Trophy for the first time.

Describing the achievement as a proud moment for the region, the BCCI said the landmark victory would be remembered as a significant milestone in the growth of cricket in Jammu & Kashmir.

In a post on X, the board said the triumph marked a historic chapter in Indian domestic cricket and highlighted the steady rise of the sport in the Union Territory.

The players, following their memorable win, conveyed their wish to meet Jay Shah, Chair of the International Cricket Council, to share the occasion and acknowledge his contribution to strengthening cricket in Jammu and Kashmir during his tenure as BCCI Secretary.

The BCCI also thanked Shah for meeting the team and encouraging the players as they celebrated their historic success.
