Tehran experienced some of the heaviest bombardment since the start of the war overnight, with at least 40 people killed near Risalat Square after waves of airstrikes struck the Iranian capital.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its missile programme remains intact despite US claims it has been destroyed. According to the IRGC, Iran is deploying missiles in larger numbers and with heavier warheads.

The escalation comes as Iran continues retaliatory attacks on Israel and US-linked targets across the Middle East, including in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In Manama, one person was killed following a strike, while two people died in central Israel during Iran’s missile attacks.

Meanwhile, Israel and Hezbollah continue to exchange fire along the Lebanon border. Lebanese authorities say Israeli strikes since early March have killed at least 486 people and wounded more than 1,300.
