Iran vows ‘decisive’ retaliation after security chief’s killing

Tel Aviv under Iran attack.

Iran has warned of a “decisive” response following the killing of its top security official Ali Larijani in an Israeli strike, as tensions in the region continue to spiral.

Iranian authorities confirmed Larijani’s death, describing it as a major blow to the country’s leadership and vowing retaliation. The army chief said the response would be “decisive and regrettable,” signalling a sharp escalation in the conflict.

In an immediate show of force, Iran launched missile strikes targeting Israel, with reports indicating that at least two people were killed in Tel Aviv. The attacks were described as part of Tehran’s retaliation for the assassination of its senior leadership.

Iran also moved swiftly to stabilise its command structure, appointing replacements and asserting that governance remains intact despite the loss of key figures.

The killing of Larijani, one of the most senior officials in Iran’s security establishment, has deepened the crisis within the country’s leadership and intensified fears of a broader regional war.

With both sides continuing strikes and counter-strikes, the conflict shows no signs of easing, raising concerns of further escalation across the Middle East.
