An Indian national was killed in Kuwait after Iranian strikes hit a power and water desalination facility, according to a report by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said a service building at one of its power and water distillation plants sustained damage in the attack. Officials termed the incident a “brutal attack,” though the specific plant was not identified.
Ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat confirmed that an Indian worker was killed in the strike, as reported by Gulf News.
Emergency and technical teams were swiftly deployed to the site to manage the situation and contain the damage, following the ministry’s established emergency protocols. Hayat added that specialised teams are working to secure the affected facilities in coordination with security agencies and other authorities.
The ministry maintained that the country’s electricity and water systems continue to function normally despite the incident.
The development comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf, with Iran retaliating after joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Tehran. In a separate recent incident, an Indian national was among two people killed in the United Arab Emirates when debris from intercepted missiles fell onto a street.
