Srinagar: The Meteorological Department has forecast continued erratic weather across Jammu and Kashmir till April 10, with multiple spells of rain and snow expected over the coming days.

According to the forecast, April 2 may see brief spells of light rain or snow at isolated places, particularly toward the late afternoon. From April 3 to 4, generally cloudy conditions are expected, with intermittent light to moderate rain and snow at many places.

Thunderstorms, hailstorms and gusty winds are likely between the afternoon of April 3 and the evening of April 4, with isolated areas in the higher reaches of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions likely to receive moderate to heavy precipitation.

Weather conditions are expected to improve slightly on April 5 and 6, with partly cloudy skies and light rain at isolated locations. However, fresh spells of light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, are forecast at many places between April 7 and 9.

The department has issued an advisory warning of possible thunderstorms, hail and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph at a few places on April 3 and 4. It also cautioned that intense showers over short durations may trigger flash floods, landslides, shooting stones in vulnerable areas, and waterlogging in low-lying regions.

Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations during this period, while travellers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly.
