Srinagar: Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone on Friday welcomed the magisterial inquiry ordered by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha into the alleged encounter killing of a person in Ganderbal district, saying a transparent investigation was needed to ensure justice.
MLA Handwara in a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) stated that the family of the deceased has raised serious allegations regarding the circumstances that led to the killing.
MLA Lone termed the LG’s decision to order a probe a “welcome step” and expressed hope that the inquiry would be conducted transparently, leading to justice for the victim’s family.
The office of the Lieutenant Governor ordered the magisterial probe late Friday morning. (KNS)
