US naval forces intercepted a vessel linked to Iran in the Arabian Sea on April 25, according to the United States Central Command.

In a post on X, the command said the US Department of the Treasury had sanctioned the M/V Sevan along with 18 other vessels described as part of a “shadow fleet” involved in transporting billions of dollars’ worth of Iranian energy exports, including oil, gas, propane and butane, to international markets.

It added that the Sevan was intercepted earlier in the day by a US Navy helicopter operating from the guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney. The vessel is currently complying with U.S. military instructions and is being escorted back toward Iran.

The U.S. military said it continues to enforce sanctions and a maritime blockade targeting Iranian-linked shipping, noting that at least 37 vessels have been redirected since the operation began.
