Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners from 58% to 60%, effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026.

The Finance Department issued separate notifications for employees and pensioners/family pensioners receiving pay and pension under the 7th Pay Commission.

Under the revised order, government employees will receive the increased DA on their basic pay, while pensioners and family pensioners will get the benefit on their basic pension and family pension.

Arrears for the period between January and April 2026 for employees covered under the General Provident Fund (GPF) scheme will be deposited into their GPF accounts. Employees enrolled under the National Pension System (NPS), along with pensioners, will receive the arrears in cash.

The revised DA will be reflected in salaries and pensions from May 2026 onwards.

The government also said that, for NPS employees, the employer’s contribution on DA arrears will be deposited accordingly. Any fraction arising during the calculation of DA will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, the orders stated.
