Jammu: One Junior Commissioned Officer and three jawans were injured in an accidental blast during patrolling near LoC in Nowshera area of Rajouri district on Tuesday.

Officials told GNS that the explosion occurred while the troops were on a routine patrol along the Line of Control. The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and shifted to a medical facility for treatment.

The blast was caused by the accidental activation of a landmine during an area domination patrol by Army personnel in the forward Kalal area of the Nowshera sector, news agency PTI reported.

As part of anti-infiltration measures, the forward areas are dotted with landmines, which can sometimes be washed away by rain, resulting in such accidents, officials told PTI.

This is the third explosion-related incident involving Army personnel in the past 10 days. Earlier, two army personnel  were killed in an accidental grenade blast in the Uri sector. In a separate incident in Poonch, two Army personnel sustained injuries in an accidental explosion.

Officials are yet to ascertain further details as security agencies continue to investigate the blast.
