Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir from July 6 to 8, while warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places that could trigger localised flash floods and landslides.

According to the MeT Department, several areas in the Jammu division are likely to witness light to moderate rain, with heavy showers and thunderstorms at a few places, mainly during the late afternoon, evening and night hours. Many districts of the Kashmir division are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall, with brief intense showers at isolated locations, particularly during the afternoon and early morning hours.

From July 9 to 12, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid, with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Brief intense showers and thunderstorms are also likely at isolated places.

The MeT Department has advised people to remain alert, warning that heavy rainfall between July 6 and 8 could lead to localised flash floods, landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas of the Chenab Valley and the Pir Panjal range. Residents have also been urged to stay away from streams, nallas and landslide-prone areas.
