Srinagar: “The woods are lovely, dark & deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep……” Quoting American poet Robert Frost on the seventh year of the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the people of the Union Territory have neither forgotten nor reconciled to the changes brought about seven years ago.
In a social media post, Abdullah said he and his party remained committed to reversing the constitutional changes made in 2019 and restoring what he described as the rights and identity taken away from Jammu and Kashmir.
“My party & I remain committed to reversing all that was done to J&K that took away our rights & threatens our identity,” the National Conference leader wrote on Facebook.
“7 years, we haven’t forgotten & we haven’t reconciled, far less accepted our current circumstances,” he added.
The Chief Minister accompanied his message with the Frost couplet, ending with the line: “And miles to go before I sleep……”
Meanwhile, National Conference senior leaders, including MP Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Sajad Kichloo and Shammi Oberoi, joined INDIA bloc leaders in a protest at Parliament, demanding the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
