Mehbooba Mufti accuses JK govt of ‘systematically destroying’ BGSBU

Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has accused the Jammu and Kashmir government of “systematically destroying” Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), saying the institution is facing prolonged administrative and academic problems.

In a post on X, Mufti said the university, which she described as the only major university serving the Pir Panjal region, has gone nearly a decade without regular recruitment. She also alleged delays in salaries, dependence on contractual staff, poor infrastructure and compromised academic standards.

“Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, the only major university serving Pir Panjal, is being systematically destroyed,” Mufti said.

She further claimed that even the university’s Chancellor had not visited the institution and urged the National Conference-led government to intervene.

“The NC government must wake up before an entire generation pays the price,” she said.

Mufti had previously raised concerns over BGSBU’s staffing shortages, administrative gaps and academic challenges.
