Indonesian police say they’re ready to manage a march scheduled for Aug. 27, to be held in front of the House of Representatives in Jakarta. Demonstrators will march to demand the passage of the long-delayed asset forfeiture bill and harsher penalties for corrupt officials, Tribune News reported.
It appears that a couple of groups from different places in Indonesia will be joining the protest, including Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB), which is calling for the bill after it’s been discussed for a while now and demanding harsher penalties for those caught in the act.
There are going to be more police, as the authorities expect a big crowd in front of the parliament and there are some organisations which are telling citizens to do it peacefully. For the moment, the only action is that the House is simply talking about it without making any decision concerning the bill.
