Srinagar: Thousands of devotees gathered at the revered Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar for night-long prayers on the eve of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), amid recitations of Darood-o-Azkar and praises of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Devotees from different parts of the Kashmir Valley, including men, women, elderly people and youth, began arriving at the shrine from the evening of August 25 to participate in congregational prayers commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The shrine remained abuzz throughout the night with Quranic recitations, Naat Khwani and Darood-o-Azkar. Devotees also offered special prayers, seeking peace, forgiveness and blessings.
Following the pre-dawn prayers, the sacred relic, Moi-e-Muqaddas of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was displayed before the devotees. People caught a glimpse of the holy relic amid prayers and expressions of devotion, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere at the shrine.
The administration and J&K Waqf Board had made arrangements for the large gathering, including lighting, sanitation, drinking water, transport and medical facilities.
Similar congregational prayers and religious gatherings were held at several other major shrines and mosques across Jammu and Kashmir.
Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), observed on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, is marked across the region with religious fervour and devotion.
