Two killed, several wounded after Israeli strike in Gaza City area
Two people were killed and several others wounded in an Israeli strike west of Gaza City, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported Monday, citing local medical sources.
The news agency did not immediately provide further details on the identities of those killed or the circumstances surrounding the strike.
The report comes amid continued Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip despite a ceasefire that has been repeatedly violated.
WAFA has reported several recent Israeli strikes in Gaza, including an Aug. 28 drone strike in Gaza City’s Sabra neighbourhood that killed one Palestinian and wounded several others, according to medical sources at al-Shifa Hospital.
The latest casualties could not immediately be independently verified.
Israel has said its military operations are aimed at countering threats from Hamas and other armed groups. Palestinian officials have repeatedly accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and carrying out attacks that cause civilian casualties.
