Crime Branch files chargesheet against Srinagar resident, deceased patwari over land grabbing bid

Srinagar: Economic Offences Wing Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in a decade-old land grabbing and forgery case.

The Crime Branch said that the chargesheet in FIR No. 08/2016 under Sections 420/511, 167, 471 and 120-B RPC has been filed before the Court of Sub-Judge Srinagar against Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik of Barapather, Haft Chinar, Srinagar and the then Patwari (now deceased).

The case originated from a complaint that the accused in criminal conspiracy had attempted to grab land and obtain building permission from Srinagar Municipal Corporation on the basis of forged documents. A probe was ordered into the complaint.

During investigation, the allegations were found substantiated with evidence of fraudulent documentation, misrepresentation of facts and alleged misuse of official position. The investigation was closed as “Proved” and the chargesheet was submitted before the competent court for judicial determination, it said.
