Iranian state media, the Islamic Republic News Agency, reported that recent Iranian strikes on Kuwait included an attack targeting the residence of a senior US commander at Ali Al Salem Air Base, as Tehran broadened its retaliation against US military positions in the region.

The report did not identify the commander or provide details on whether the residence was occupied when it was targeted. It also was not immediately clear whether the strike caused casualties or damage.

Iran has repeatedly claimed attacks on US military facilities in Kuwait during the latest escalation. Iranian military officials have previously said they targeted Ali Al Salem Air Base, along with other US-linked sites, in retaliation for American strikes on Iranian targets.

The US military has not immediately confirmed the reported targeting of the commander’s residence. Ali Al Salem is a Kuwaiti air base that hosts US forces and serves as an important regional military facility.

The reported strike comes as the United States and Iran exchange attacks following a renewed escalation in hostilities. US forces have conducted fresh strikes on Iranian military and maritime targets, while Iran has retaliated against American positions in several Middle Eastern countries.
