Emergency crews were responding Wednesday to a fire at a six-storey residential building in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district after a Russian attack, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

Klitschko said emergency services were working to put out the fire. There were no immediate details on potential casualties or the extent of damage.

Ukrainian authorities have reported repeated Russian drone and missile strikes in recent days on Kyiv, with residential buildings among other structures damaged. The latest incident came as Russia entered a sixth day of attacks on the Ukrainian capital and surrounding regions.

Ukrainian officials have repeatedly called on residents to stay in shelters during air raid warnings.

In Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions, the most recent attacks have resulted in fatalities, injuries and infrastructure damage. Ukrainian officials say residential areas and key infrastructure are under growing attack from Russia, while Moscow says it is targeting military sites.
