Russian drones strike Kyiv university while students shelter, Zelenskyy says

Russian drones struck a university building in Kyiv on Wednesday while students were taking shelter inside during an air raid, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Telegram.

Zelenskyy said about 160 students were inside the shelter when the drones struck the university during lectures. He did not immediately report casualties among the students.

The strike was part of a broader Russian aerial assault on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine. Ukrainian officials said Russian drones and missiles have targeted the capital for a seventh consecutive day, damaging residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

The university strike came as Ukrainian authorities reported damage to other educational and medical facilities in Kyiv. A separate drone strike partially damaged a six-story residential building, while a medical facility and an educational establishment were also damaged, according to Ukrainian officials.

Zelenskyy has accused Moscow of deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure and disrupting normal life in Ukraine. Russia has maintained that its military strikes target facilities linked to Ukraine’s war effort.

Authorities continued assessing damage from Wednesday’s attacks, while emergency crews responded to fires and other incidents across the capital.
