India’s 7.8% growth creating global confidence, new opportunities, Modi says

India’s economic growth is becoming a source of confidence and new opportunities for the world, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Thursday as he highlighted the country’s better-than-expected expansion and deeper cooperation with Belgium The Indian Express reported.

Speaking after talks with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in New Delhi, Modi said that despite global uncertainty, conflicts, and disruptions to food, fuel, and supply chains, India’s economy had maintained its momentum.

“Today, the world is going through a period of great upheaval. Conflicts continue to persist in many parts of the world. Whether it is food, fuel, or supply chains, every sector is being impacted by uncertainty,” said Modi.

“In this challenging environment, India’s economy has maintained its momentum. We recorded 7.8% growth in the last quarter. Today, India’s growth story is becoming a source of confidence and new opportunities for the world,” he added.

India’s economy grew 7.8% in the April-June period of the 2026-27 fiscal, making it one of the fastest growing major economies.

India and Belgium have agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, defence, critical minerals, clean energy and emerging technologies, Modi said. The two sides also agreed to strengthen military exchanges and training, intelligence cooperation and cooperation on renewable energy.

Modi said cooperation in critical minerals, semiconductor technology and clean energy could offer more opportunities for both. Belgium is an important economic partner for India in Europe with bilateral trade reaching $ 13.01 billion in 2025-26.
