Israeli troops arrested 10 people and neutralized over 30 machines allegedly used to produce weapons during a 48-hour operation in and around Nablus in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli military said Friday.
The Israel Defence Forces said troops, guided by the Shin Bet security agency, searched hundreds of locations and questioned dozens of suspects during the operation.
The military said the forces destroyed more than 30 weapons-manufacturing lathes and seized rifles, handguns and ammunition. It called the activity a counterterrorism operation, but did not give details on the identities of those arrested or whether they had been charged.
According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), “soldiers searched hundreds of locations, questioned dozens of suspects, and arrested more than 10 wanted individuals.”
No mention was made in the military’s statement of casualties among Israeli forces or Palestinians in the operation.
Tensions have been running high across the territory in recent years, with Israeli military raids repeatedly hitting Nablus, a major Palestinian city in the northern West Bank.
The latest operation comes amid continued Israeli security activity in the West Bank, where Palestinian armed groups and Israeli forces have often clashed. The Times of Israel reported that the IDF provided the details of the operation.
