Diplomatic efforts to resolve outstanding issues with a memorandum of understanding with the United States are continuing, an Iranian Interior Ministry spokesperson said Saturday, as he acknowledged growing concern over rising prices.

Ali Zeynivand said international diplomatic mediation was underway to address the issues and return to the Islamabad agreement, according to Al Jazeera, which cited Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.

“Efforts and international diplomatic mediations to resolve issues and return to the Islamabad agreement are ongoing,” Zeynivand said.

He added that Iran expected the United States to honour its commitments under the agreement. Zeynivand described the memorandum as an official decision approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and confirmed by the country’s supreme leader, according to Al Jazeera’s report.

“Rising prices are causing concern for the people,” Zeynivand said, without providing specific figures or details on measures being considered to address the price increases.

His comments come as Tehran and Washington remain engaged in diplomatic contacts through intermediaries amid continuing tensions between the two countries. Iran has previously said mediators have conveyed proposals aimed at resolving the conflict and restoring a diplomatic track.
