State Bank of India has advised customers to complete important branch-related transactions before a three-day nationwide bank strike scheduled for Sept. 28-30, warning that services could be disrupted.

The strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). With Sept. 26 and 27  falling on a Saturday and Sunday, respectively, customers could be affected by limited access to regular branch services for five days in a row.

SBI said it is putting arrangements in place to ensure that necessary banking services are available during the strike period but asked customers to plan transactions that need branch staff or physical documentation in advance.

“Please be advised that the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has proposed a three-day strike from 28th September 2026 to 30th September 2026,” SBI said in its advisory.

Customers will still be able to use ATMs, Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines, Customer Service Points and digital channels including internet banking, mobile banking, YONO and UPI for routine transactions, SBI said.

How much disruption there is will depend on how many people take part at each bank and each location. Services that involve physical documents, processing of cheques or help from staff may be delayed.

The UFBU is seeking, among other demands, implementation of a five-day banking week and changes to pension-related arrangements.
