HDFC Bank shares have risen in seven of the past eight trading sessions, helping the private lender add about ₹93,000 crore to its market capitalization as the stock recovered from a recent 52-week low and extended a September rebound, Business Standard reported.
The bank’s shares closed at ₹740 on Monday, up 1.49%, taking its market capitalization to ₹11.41 lakh crore, according to market data. The stock had closed at ₹682 on Sept. 11, hitting its 52-week low before bouncing back in the next sessions.
The recent gains have come amid heightened scrutiny of the bank’s succession process. HDFC Bank has suggested two names to the Reserve Bank of India for the appointment of its next managing director and chief executive but the bank has not disclosed the names.
Shares rose for the second consecutive session on Tuesday hitting an intra-day high of Rs 748.80, the Financial Express reported. Sashidhar Jagdishan, the bank’s current CEO, is due to complete his term on Oct. 26.
According to Financial Express, despite the recent recovery, the stock is still about 25% lower in 2026.
