Raiza Dhillon finishes fourth in women’s skeet final at Asian Games
India’s Raiza Dhillon missed out on an individual medal after finishing fourth in the women’s skeet final at the Asian Games on Wednesday.
Dhillon shook off a slow start, scoring 23 hits in the eight-shooter final, just missing out on a podium finish. Her fourth-place finish came after she had already assisted India in winning the bronze in the women’s team skeet.
China’s Yiting Jiang took gold with 35 hits, a new Asian record, Kazakhstan’s Assem Orynbay won silver with 30. Thailand’s Isarapa Imprasertsuk won bronze, according to The New Indian Express.
Dhillon and fellow countrywoman Parinaaz Dhaliwal both progressed to the individual final after scoring 111 out of 125 in the qualification rounds. Dhaliwal ended up eighth with eight hits.
Dhillon, Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan earlier combined for 331 hits to win India’s first Asian Games medal in the women’s team skeet event, PTI reported.
The individual result meant India had no woman on the skeet podium, though the team won bronze.
