Trump’s Board of Peace to unveil $2.45 billion Gaza recovery plan

President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is expected to reveal its six-month, $2.45 billion recovery plan for the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, detailing proposed spending on reconstruction, housing and security, Axios reported.

Axios said it obtained a copy of the plan, which is set to be presented at a meeting of Board of Peace members. The proposal includes 66 projects. The board is composed of 28 member countries.

The plan includes funding for temporary housing, rubble removal, hospital repairs, economic recovery and a multinational security force, Axios reported.

The announcement comes as the administration seeks to make headway on arrangements for Gaza’s postwar governance and reconstruction. The Board of Peace is responsible for supervising the implementation of Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

All sides must honour their commitments and refrain from actions that could threaten the ceasefire or put Gaza back into conflict, the board said in a statement, The National reported.

The proposed recovery programme would be one of the most detailed efforts yet to sketch out the early phases of rebuilding the territory after the war between Israel and Hamas.
