Two cops found dead inside car in Ramban, say officials

Ramban: Two police personnel were found dead inside a car at Ziarat Morh in the Sana area of Batote tehsil in Ramban district on Tuesday evening, officials said.

An official said that the two personnel were found unconscious inside a Fiat Linea car bearing registration number JK-19/5299 at around 8:30 pm. They were shifted to District Hospital Ramban by locals, where doctors declared them brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Head Constable Farid Ahmed (No. 408/Rbn), a resident of Bhatti Ramban, and Selection Grade Constable Muhammad Yaqoob (No. 309/Rbn), a resident of Jatgali Ramban. Both were posted at District Police Lines (DPL), Ramban.

The bodies have been kept at the hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The official said that the exact cause and circumstances leading to their deaths were not immediately known. Police have initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
