Musk, Cook, Altman among guests at Trump state dinner for Xi

US President Donald Trump held a state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House on Thursday with a guest list that included major tech and business leaders, including Elon Musk, Tim Cook and Sam Altman.

The White House East Room dinner followed a day of meetings and ceremonial events between Trump and Xi, who discussed issues including trade, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and the Middle East.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk was speaking alongside Apple executive chairperson Cook and OpenAI CEO Altman. Other notable guests at the White House were Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell.

Trump said in a toast that he and Xi “represent different systems, but the ties between our people endure”.

Xi urged the United States and China to “coexist in peace” and said the two countries should act as “responsible major countries”.

The White House said business leaders and government officials attended the dinner, which featured a menu blending American ingredients with Chinese influences.
