Shehbaz thanks Trump for ‘timely intervention’ in 2025 India-Pakistan conflict

US President Donald Trump has shared a video of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s United Nations speech in which Sharif thanked him for his “timely intervention” during the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict, Deccan Herald reported.

Trump posted the 87-second video to Truth Social on Friday, but did not comment. Sharif, speaking to the U.N. General Assembly, thanked Trump for his “resolute and visionary leadership” and said his intervention helped to avoid more bloodshed in South Asia.

Trump told his own UN address on Tuesday that Sharif had credited him with saving 30 million lives by helping end the India-Pakistan conflict.

India has repeatedly denied Trump’s claim that Washington brokered the May 2025 ceasefire, saying the understanding was reached directly between India and Pakistan following a request by Pakistan’s director general of military operations.
