Minor driving cases decline in Srinagar, but problem persists in outskirts: DySP Traffic
Srinagar: Cases involving minors driving vehicles on Srinagar’s main roads have declined significantly this year, but the practice continues in the city’s outskirts, Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic Mehboob Ul Haq said, urging parents to ensure that children do not drive before reaching the legally permitted age.
Haq said traffic violations remain a concern in Srinagar city centre, particularly wrong parking and wrong-lane driving. He stressed the need to raise awareness about lane discipline and develop a stronger civic sense among road users.
He said traffic congestion was also linked to violations of traffic rules, adding that better compliance by motorists could help ease jams across the city.
While acknowledging the decline in cases of minors driving on main roads, Haq said the persistence of the practice in peripheral areas required attention from parents and greater awareness among the public. [KNT]
