Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted an alleged intra-UT terror financing module linked to terrorists lodged in different jails, arresting 10 persons in connection with the case in Shopian.

According to police, the module was busted following an investigation into suspected financial networks linked to terrorist activities. During the probe, investigators analysed suspicious online transactions carried out through various payment platforms and traced money trails across multiple layers, leading to the identification of a wider network allegedly involved in terror financing.

Police said the accused had links with terrorists and their associates lodged in different jails.

A case, FIR 231/2026, has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant sections of law.

The arrested persons have been identified as Owais Shafi Naikoo of Saidpora Bala, Shopian; Tajamul Ahmad Shah of Rawalpora, Shopian; Moiz Iqbal and Imdad Yousuf Ganie of Chitragam Kalan; Saqib Zahoor Wani and Liyaqat Nazir Lone of Murran, Pulwama; Aamir Ahmad Ganie of Armolah, Pulwama; Firdous Thokar of Nadigund, Trenz; and Mohd Hanief and Kaju of Check Haria, Kathua.

Police said the initial investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly collecting funds clandestinely from the general public and channelising the money through established financial links to facilitate the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)/The Resistance Front (TRF).

The funds were also allegedly being used to provide logistical support, including smartphones, for furthering terrorist activities, police said.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the wider network, establish additional financial linkages and identify other individuals involved in the module. Police said more arrests are expected.
