Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Secretariat reopened in Jammu today after the annual Darbar Move.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was accorded Guard of Honour at the Civil Secretariat on his arrival. He inspected the parade and interacted with officers and staff.

Officials said more than 100 offices have resumed functioning in the winter capital for the winter session 2026-27. While Chief Minister’s Secretariat and 40 other departments have moved in full, 50 offices will function in camp.

Offices observing five-day week had closed in Srinagar on Oct 30 and those with six-day week on Oct 31. The second batch of employees reached Jammu yesterday along with records.

The Secretariat will function from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. A winter secretariat has been set up in Srinagar to ensure work does not suffer in the Valley.

This is the second year in a row that Darbar Move has been followed after the elected government restored the 150-year-old practice in November last year.

The practice, started by Dogra Maharajas in 1872 to shift capital between Srinagar and Jammu as per season, was stopped in 2021 by the LG administration. (GNS)
