A French artist’s projection of the words “OUT” alongside Donald Trump’s name on the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has gone viral after big Republican defeats in the US midterm elections.

However, visual artist Joanie Lemercier carried out the protest by projecting the word onto the building’s facade, transforming its prominent “TRUMP” sign into the message “TRUMP OUT.”

Several weeks before the intervention, Lemercier and his team rented a room in a building facing the hotel and projected the message using a high-powered laser projector from approximately 200 meters away.

The artist posted images and video of the installation to social media on Tuesday, Nov. 3, on Election Day.

“Today is Election Day for the US midterms, an election that will have profound, far-reaching consequences for international politics,” Lemercier wrote in his post.

This showcase was widely shared on social media and in a hotel corridor in Las Vegas, where travelers took photos of it.

The art intervention came as Democrats scored big wins in the midterm elections, which dealt a blow to Trump and his Republican Party.

The projection didn’t change the sign on the building, which was made entirely with light.
