Srinagar: The cold wave tightened its grip on Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as temperatures plummeted across the region.
Srinagar recorded a low of -2.6°C, while Gulmarg and Larnoo emerged as the coldest places in the valley at -8.6°C.
Qazigund reported -5.2°C, followed by Kokernag at -5.8°C and Pahalgam at -4.0°C. In southern Kashmir, Anantnag and Kulgam registered -6.2°C, Shopian stood at -7.6°C, and Khudwani recorded -6.0°C. Meanwhile, Zojila reported an extreme low of -22.0°C, highlighting the harsh conditions in higher altitudes.
In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 7.4°C, while Banihal and Bhaderwah saw 2.9°C and 1.6°C, respectively. Katra recorded a relatively mild 9.0°C.
In Ladakh, Leh and Drass saw lows of -7.8°C, while Kargil recorded -8.2°C, reflecting the region’s harsh winter spell.
Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions as the cold conditions persist.
