Srinagar: A strong western disturbance is set to impact Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from this afternoon, bringing heavy snowfall and intense rainfall across the region.
In Kashmir’s higher reaches, Meteorological department said, heavy snowfall is expected, with residents advised to take precautions. The plains will see heavy rain, accompanied by snowfall in some areas. A sharp temperature drop could lead to major snow accumulation.
Jammu’s higher reaches will also experience heavy snowfall, while the plains, including Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, and Doda, will witness heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning.
Ladakh, including Kargil, Leh, Drass, and Zojila, will see substantial snowfall, with accumulation expected between 2 to 5 feet. Authorities urge residents to stay indoors and take necessary precautions as the weather system intensifies.
